Azerbaijan, as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, released a summary document on the high-level meeting held in Belgrade on October 11-12, 2021 in connection with the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan told, APA reports.
The document notes that the participating member and observer countries, organizations, as well as guest countries and organizations highly appreciate the importance of the meeting organized jointly by Azerbaijan and Serbia. It emphasizes the historical significance of the 1961 Belgrade Conference, the establishment of the world's second largest political platform in accordance with the Non-Aligned Movement's Bandung Principles, the goal of promoting peaceful coexistence and sustainable development, and the far-sighted wisdom and determination of its founders.
Despite new threats to international peace and security, it is gratifying to note that the Non-Aligned Movement is now growing in effectiveness, strengthening unity and adapting to modern challenges.
The participants discussed the international situation, including the growing political tensions, discrimination, racism and xenophobia, disrespect for international law, the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the socio-economic situation in the world, etc. The document emphasizes the importance of mobilizing global efforts in the spirit of multilateralism, international cooperation and solidarity.
