The Chinese TV channel Phoenix broadcasted a special program dedicated to Azerbaijan, Ednews reports.

Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev, who was the guest of the special program, told the host about the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia, China-Azerbaijani cooperation within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, the importance of the East-West transport corridor, and energy between our countries. answered questions about cooperation, COP29 to be hosted by Baku and other issues.

It was stated that Azerbaijan ensured its territorial integrity and sovereignty according to Article 51 of the UN Charter. Now Armenia and Azerbaijan are closer to peace than ever before. In the last six months, the Armenian-Azerbaijani border has been one of the quietest periods in the history of the two countries.

It was emphasized that the 30-year negotiations conducted under the auspices of the Minsk Group of the OSCE, co-chaired by France and the United States, have practically yielded no results. But now peace is closer, de facto peace reigns in the region. The goal of Azerbaijan is to turn the Caucasus region into a region of peace and cooperation. It was noted that despite the fact that Azerbaijan was subjected to military occupation, it was he who initiated the peace agreement and prepared its text.

Answering the question about the "One Belt, One Road" project, the assistant of the President said that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to support the "One Belt, One Road" initiative put forward by the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. It was noted that the East-West Transport Corridor, which is the shortest route in cargo transportation between Asia and Europe, is competitive, at the same time, safe and reliable. European companies and the continent's trade institutions can use this route to enter the Chinese and Central Asian markets.

At the same time, information was provided about COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan this year. It was reported that climate financing will be the main topic at the Baku conference.

It was pointed out that Azerbaijan is the guarantor of Europe's energy security and exports oil and natural gas to many European countries. It was pointed out that there is close cooperation between China and Azerbaijan in the field of energy, and that the green transition has become a priority area for Azerbaijan.

Touching on the relations between the two countries, Hikmat Hajiyev said: "China and Azerbaijan are traditional friends. There are deep partnership relations between our country and China. Since its independence, Azerbaijan has always witnessed China's support and partnership. Our presidents have close friendly relations. During President Ilham Aliyev's visit to China in 2019, President of the PRC Xi Jinping assessed the head of our state as a good friend. Based on these parameters, we are developing Azerbaijan-China relations. China and Azerbaijan are very good friends at the political level. We support each other's territorial integrity. Azerbaijan is always guided by the principle of "One China". Azerbaijan and China support the fundamental principles of international law.

It was also emphasized that our countries cooperate within the framework of international organizations. It was noted that Azerbaijan will host COP29 this year, and there are opportunities for cooperation with China in this direction as well. Another direction of cooperation between the two countries is the economic field. In this regard, trade relations between Azerbaijan and China are continuously expanding.

In the end, it was stated that Azerbaijan is a developing country and there is potential for cooperation with China along the Middle Corridor.
