Azerbaijan's diplomatic corps abroad consists of 67 ambassadors, with only two being women, according to Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center).
According to Ednews, Shafiyev made the statement during a roundtable discussion titled "Participation of Azerbaijani Women on International Platforms on Foreign Policy Issues: Problems and Prospects" held in Baku.
"Women are almost unrepresented in leadership positions within the structures of this sphere. However, despite this, Azerbaijan is far ahead of many countries in terms of gender equality," Shafiyev noted. He highlighted that this year, Azerbaijan will host COP29, which is expected to have a positive impact on the country's international reputation.
The AIR Center is also actively working in this direction, participating in various events. Shafiyev emphasized that women from the center are actively involved in this matter, representing Azerbaijan at events in foreign countries.
"Overall, 70% of men and 30% of women working at the center have represented our country on international platforms," he added.
