Senator Ed Markey, supported by the Armenian diaspora, delivered a speech in the U.S. Congress last evening condemning Azerbaijan's treatment of Armenian political prisoners.
According to Ednews, Markey's impassioned address called for international attention and intervention before the upcoming climate summit in Baku later this year.
In his speech, Senator Markey defended Armenian activist Ruben Vardanyan and other leaders of the separatist movement, who are currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan. He urged the U.S. government and the global community to secure their release before the COP29 event in November 2024.
"I call on our government and the world to pay attention to these political prisoners so that they can be released before the climate summit later this year," Markey stated.
Markey, who cannot even pronounce the names of the people he defends, calls for putting pressure on Azerbaijan before the COP29 event in Baku in November 2024.
However, there is one issue that the senate has forgotten, that they left there under the order of the so-called regime, Shahramania, unequivocally, in the form of society, and here the main calculations are aimed at making noise in the international community, that Azerbaijan allegedly violates human rights, ethics facilitates cleaning.
There is an additional issue that the US highly appreciates the progress of both countries in the region within the framework of the peace agreement. Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien, who previously shared Markey's critical view of Azerbaijan, has recently recognized the advancements in the region's peace process.
