Today, Baku Court of Appeal concluded the trial on the appeal of the journalist Rauf Mirgadirov, reports state news agency APA.
The hearing presided over by judge Abid Abdinbeyov took place in the absence of journalists.
Lawyer Fuad Aghayev said that Rauf Mirgadirov was released and placed on a five-year probation.
Mirgadirov, who was released form the courtroom, in his statement to reporters thanked those who defended him and said he has some health problems.
According to APA, Mirgadirov said that the decision on conditional release doesn’t mean acquittal. “I will try to be acquitted.”
Note that, Mirgadirov is charged with treason and the Baku Court of Grave Crimes has sentenced him to six years in jail - the judgment against which the appeal was filed, asking the court for acquittal.
