George Michael fans have been shocked to discover that the late singer is still waiting on a headstone on his grave.

The Wham! hitmaker died on Christmas Day in 2016, but almost two years to the day after his sudden death at the age of 53, there is still no mark.

Fans of the Jesus to a Child singer who went to visit the burial spot of the star in Highgate Cemeterywere stunned to see that there is still headstone.

George was laid to rest in March 2017, and funeral guidelines advise leaving a grave for a year for the ground to settle before installing a grave stone.

But fans are outraged that the plot is still unmarked after 21 months.

“Why is there still no headstone… disgrace. Who is in charge - they need a shake,” one fan complained to the Daily Star Sunday.

Indeed, one tourist made pilgrimage to George’s resting place in the hope of seeing a fitting tribute on the spot where he is buried - which is next to his mother, Lesley Panyiotou.

“I knew that he didn’t have a grave a year on, so I was interested to see if that had changed when I did the tour this week. I made a point of looking for that reason,” the tourist told the Sunday paper.

“But it’s still just his mum’s big headstone and then a bare gap for George,” they continued.

“That’s two years now, and they can’t blame wanting the ground to settle any more, surely,” they added.

Despite passing away two years ago, charities are still receiving payments from the late singer’s estate, the Mirror revealed yesterday.

As the Wham! star’s family put out a statement to thank fans for continuing his good deeds, the NSPCC’s Childline revealed it has been sent an unexpected boost from George’s estate.

And a Los Angeles AIDS charity also told how gifts that stopped after the singer’s death on Christmas Day 2016 have suddenly started again.

Thanking fans for “paying it forward” in his memory, George’s family said: “Feeling that good people are doing their best in Yog’s name is really heartening.”
