On March 12, assistant to the President of International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF), Anastasia Lavrina delivered a presentation about the work of the Fund in the British School in Baku. The event was attended by more than 100 local and international schoolchildren and staff members. Philip Roche, Deputy Principal, Secondary, Ex-Officio member moderated the event.
The aim of the presentation was to inform the schoolchildren about the key work activities of the international organization on the local and international levels, its humanitarian, education and media projects, and the benefits it has from the General Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council.
Moreover, the students were informed about the upcoming charity campaign to be organized on the eve of International Children’s Day on the 1st of June. All those who were willing to participate and donate some things like a book, a pen or something from the clothes were invited to become a part of this important event.
“Children are the most vulnerable in areas where conflicts have raged. Their right to live a normal life and have a good childhood is being violated. Due to the long-lasting Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenian occupation of the Azerbaijani territories, the children from the frontline regions of Azerbaijan suffer a lot. The government does its good job to support the families of refugees and IDPs but we all have to try to bring our own input to support these children with all possible things and make their life a bit brighter”, Anastasia Lavrina said.
Being under the impression of the presentation, Philip Roche said:
“It is only 300-350 km away from Baku, but there are the children who are in a real need because of the conflict. All of you know that you will go home, eat your food and sleep in your beds, but those children cannot be sure about what they will have today later or tomorrow. Their life is very unpredictable”.
The schoolchildren demonstrated a big will to become a part of the charity campaign and assist the children with different things.
In the end of the presentation, a short video about the children being suffered from the conflict in the frontline regions, prepared by the IEPF, was shown for a wide audience.
