On 28 November, the Embassy of Romania organised an event to celebrate the National Day of Romania.
As Eurasia Diary reports, the event was opened with welcoming speech of the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr Dan Iancu especially in Azerbaijani language.
He noted that the years of 2019 have been very successful and productive for both Azerbaijan and Romania.
"We are marking 10 years of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania and this has even deepened over these years. Due to this fruitful partnership, we are working together to expand our cooperation in all fields, such as transport, trade, energy, education and culture.
The ambassador noted of a special attention that the government of Romania attach in support of the major diplomatic initiatives and priorities.
"We are a respectful partner. We look forward to developing relations between Romania and Azerbaijan. We owe much to the official bodies, companies and universities of Azerbaijan for what we have gained so far."
Also Minister of Labour and Social Protection Sahil Babayev congratulated Romania on the National Day on behalf of the Government of the frankly and brother Azerbaijan. He noted that Azerbaijan and Romania have a 27-year history:
"Our relations go back to over 27 years and of course, due to lasting political willingness of heads of these two states have been critical and instrumental in the growth of ties and relations between two countries. Joint declaration of strategic partnership, signing of the joint action programme in 2011 gave impetus to the development of our partnership in many ways. Azerbaijan and Romania are developing close cooperation in almost all spheres. Our investment cooperation has reached by $120 mln through which we are expanding trade as well as developing scientific relations. And of course, our joint commission plays an important role in promotion of these relations.
So fa, we have held 5 meetings, the last of which was held in Romania. The Commission is looking into holding the next 6th meeting in early next year in Azerbaijan. Joint Commission is the driving force in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Romania.
I would like to point out one particular fact that Romania has always supported Azerbaijan's right to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which is Azerbaijan's biggest justice issue, and Romania also expresses its views on the settlement of the conflict within the framework of international law. That's why the relations between Azerbaijan and Romania are at the level of strategic partnership, and I believe our strategic cooperation will continue to expand in the coming years."
