The tensions between police and citizens near Russian border with Azerbaijan has risen last week. It has been a month since throusands of Azerbaijani citizens have been complaining over the ban to cross the border for entering Azerbaijan. Despite they expressed as feeling desperate to join their families for many urgent reasong the citizens are not supported to pass the border due to coronavirus pandemic.
According to reliable sources, over 1000 Azerbaijani cizitens spend nights in unfavourable places sleeping on cold concrete surface without food. One of the citizens says they received food from local residents in the nearby villages.
Although Azerbaijani government have organised several charter flights across countries during the pandemic, there are still hundreds of Azerbaijanis facign problems at the state border with Russian Federation.
EDNews.net reports that head of the department of the presidential administration Hikmat Hajiyev has told a new portal "Eve Gedirem" (I am going home) has been launched for citizens to plan their journey in advance. He says that the portal has been created for citizens not to face such problems abroad.
"Gathering near the border is not the way out of problems. There must be some restrains on free movement by individuals in such period. However we continue negotiations with related organisations from Russia to arrange a facility for citizens, especially elderly people, people with children to return their country. This is graphically processed between Russian and Azerbaijani state borders following both country's rules of pandemic."
