A lifetime bound for the homeland Umud Mirzayev 60!

Society 00:31 02.02.2021

He is known as the elder of the Azerbaijani press. He is invited to attend almost every important event. Although at first glance he may seem like an old, slow elderly person, when you look at what he is doing, you can see that his life is very dynamic.

He has an exceptional role in conveying the true voice of Azerbaijan to the world in connection with our formerly occupied lands. The International Eurasia Press Fund, which he heads, and the website ednews.net (Eurasia Diary), which he has founded, have done unprecedented work in this direction. Hundreds of journalists, politicians and public figures learned about the realities of Karabakh as a result of his work ...

What many do not know is that during the 44-day Patriotic War, he was on the front line almost every day, organising trips of foreign journalists and conveying the Armenian atrocities visually to the whole world. Despite the dangers after the war, he often travels to the frontline to the areas where we face the enemy. At present, he is actively involved in the restructuring works in Karabakh and the solution of problems.

Today is the 60th anniversary of Umud Mirzayev, known as Rahimoglu in the press. When we asked him for an "interview," he modestly replied, "No, there is no need!" But when we were with him, the incessant congratulatory calls and messages proved once again the need. After numerous insistences, we were able to persuade Umud Rahimoglu to give a brief outline to the Eurasia Diary.

A short bio: Umud Rahim oglu Mirzayev was born on February 1, 1961 in Ashagi Abdurrahmanli village of Fizuli region. In 1989-1993, he headed the department of "Science, Journalism and Letters" of the "Literature and Art" newspaper, the press organ of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers.

U.Mirzayev is one of the founders of the Azerbaijan National Non-Governmental Organisations Forum.

President of IEPF Umud Mirzayev was appointed a member of the Supervisory Board of the State Support Fund for the Development of Mass Media under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on May 22, 2009. In 2009-2016, he chaired the Supervisory Board of the organisation. By the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the implementation of mass publications in Latin script in the Azerbaijani language" he led a project to convert most of the books in the Cyrillic alphabet to the Latin alphabet.

U. Mirzayev is the author of programs and projects aimed at organising visits for journalists, media representatives, representatives of international organisations to our regions as well as numerous events together with various international organisations in order to convey the truth about our country to the world.

More than 10 statements on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were published on the official website of the UN, parallel sessions and events on the realities of Azerbaijan were held in the UN offices in New York and Geneva, and numerous publications and appeals were prepared.

He is currently the head of the Azerbaijan National Committee of the International Press Institute, the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council, a member of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers, and the deputy chairman of the board of the National Non-Governmental Organisations Forum. Umud Mirzayev is also the chairman of the Public Councils under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and the State Pedagogical University named after Nasraddin Tusi.

He is the founder of the Eurasia Media Network including Eurasia Diary, the analytical information portal published in 5 languages (English, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Azerbaijani), which was established in 2015 to provide objective information from around the world and especially from conflict zones. Eurasia Diary (Ednews.az) is the initiator of numerous articles on the analytical-information site, which present to the world the just cause of our country by international experts from across the world.

He was awarded the honorary title of "Honoured Cultural Worker" by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 22, 2010.

Dear Mirzayev, what is the world like after 60 years?

- The world is the same world. That colour, that shade, that mood. Many things change and we change them. As the world changes, so does man. It is good when that change is well proportioned, and the person himself changes along with the variables. There are eternal values, unchanging shades and colours in the world, in which the core and the pixies remain unchanged.

27 years later, you visited your homeland - Ashagi Abdurrahmanli village of Fizuli region. You also have an undeniable contribution along the way to the liberation of Karabakh from the enemy ...

- As a member of civil society since the early 1990s, I have tirelessly worked in the field of returning our lands. There is nothing more precious than a drop that a bird can carry in its beak to put out a blazing fire. Based on this idea, I tried to contribute to unraveling this knot as much as I could. Thankfully, 2020 has been a year of victory for us, despite the pain we went through with COVID 19. There is no greater happiness than the return of our lands and the return of our people to their homes. Nothing in life can be heavier than the loss of a native home. Man sweats for years, decades, the nation sweats for centuries, millennia to build a home and to build a family. As one of those who experienced this loss, I know how tragic and painful it is. I think that last year, as a nation, as a society and a state, we were able to express ourselves, prove our existence and strength.

Dear Umud Mirzayev, the war ended in victory. But there are still many problems. As a member of civil society, you will probably contribute to the cleansing, reconstruction and landscaping of our liberated lands.

- Everyone, including the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on the top, became a soldier in this battle for the freedom of the lands, and we won. Today I enjoy living my "60 years" in such a mood. There can be no greater happiness and gift than such a feeling, indeed.

If point out the activities of the International Eurasia Press Fund, which we established in 1992, we publish a thick book. In my far from humble opinion, we mobilised people from the UN audience to the various tribunes of the world who shouted and expressed this pain, and tried to gather our friends around us. We will continue to work in this direction. We will continue our work as lovers of homeland and country. We have a lot of work to do. We must show our strength to those who are not happy with our victory. They must finally realise who is on the side of good and evil. There is a lot of creative work to be done in the future. Our lands must become a garden of flowers. The contribution of every Azerbaijani will be needed in this way. I have personally stated that I intend to create a shelter in each of our liberated regions, especially Shusha, and I will do it. There is a lot to be done to spread the Armenian attrocities in these lands. We must guide and show foreign journalists, diplomats and parliamentarians. As a representative of civil society, we have a lot of work to do.

It should be noted that today he has been receiving many congratulations from ordinary citizens to officials from all over the world. Some of his close friends shared their congratulations on the Eurasia Diary website.

Uzbek historian and publicist Shohrat Barlas:

"The word congratulations is a formality. The truth is that Umud Mirayev is a brave and honest man. He is a person who shows young people how to love the country, how to serve the nation.

Lithuanian military journalist Richardas Lapaitis:

"Dear teacher Umud Mirzayev, I congratulate you with all my heart. You have been the best teacher in my life. Our roads crossed back in 1992. Over the years, I have come to know you as a person who keeps his word. You are a real man of your homeland. I am very glad to know you. Just because I know you, I visit Baku not as a guest, but as a person who comes to my home. I warmly embrace you, dear teacher. You are valuable and necessary for us. I congratulate you not only on my own behalf, but on behalf of all Baltic journalists, writers and cultural figures. Thank you so much for everything! ”

Arye Gut, head of the Israeli branch of the Baku International Centre for Multiculturalism:

Happy birthday my elder brother - Umud Mirzayev !! Today I talked to you on the phone and said my heartfelt words!!! Ashagi Abdurrahmanli, we were with Israeli journalists in your native village and showed the Armenian aggression to the leading media and television representatives in Israel !!

We walked through the ruined village, saw the destroyed houses, schools, destroyed and deformed tombstones. This is terrible: Armenian snipers open fire even on the gravestones. The soldiers accompanying us instructed advised Umud to bend down. However, a brave man Umud Mirzayev does not bow down and stands in front of the grave, declaring that he will remain loyal to his land, the land of his great-grandfather, grandfather and father, his country and the people of Azerbaijan.

Your role here was undeniable !! Long live, long live, do many great works, great son of the Motherland who is always ready to support !! May God always give you strength and energy !! Long Live, dear Umud Mirzayev !!

Linh Tong, a former Vietnamese student at ADA University:

"Happy birthday, dear teacher Umud Mirzayev. Thank you for being such a wonderful leader during my time at the IEPF. Thanks to you and the IEPF, I had the opportunity to visit Agdam and Tartar and see with my own eyes how the war affected people's lives. You have also been a source of inspiration by caring for me as a friend, a dear father, sharing your knowledge of culture and history. I wish you all the best, especially health and success. I hope to see you again. "

Elmira Tukhvatullina, a well-known Uzbek TV journalist and host of the TV programme "Everything about Tourism":

"Dear Umud Mirzayev! Thanks to you, I had the opportunity to discover this wonderful, hospitable country with my colleagues and friends, to understand its mood and spirit. Despite your busy schedule, as the president of such an influential organisation International Eurasia Press Fund, what you did was somewhat surprising for Uzbek journalists: you showed, spoke, explained. We travelled hundreds of kilometers with you! When we came for the second time, you took the time to meet us and pay tribute to us and Uzbekistan. We remember an unforgettable walk along the coast and farewell night on the Caspian coast. I remember one detail: it was late, we were all returning to the hotel a little tired, and on the way we were enchanted by the car window and looking at the city, which was brightened with lights! By the way, those miraculous views were included in our TV programme ... Now I know that we have a real, good friend in Baku! Dear Umud Mirzayev, I wish you good health, good mood, inexhaustible energy and, of course, prosperity and well-being to all of Azerbaijan in your personality! Happy Birthday to You!"
