Today, the head of the US Development Agency's mission in Azerbaijan and representatives of the US Embassy met with the President of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) Umud Mirzayev.
Eurasia Diary reports that Jaidev Singh, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and USAID Director, Laura Daniels, Embassy Political Officer, Kenan Mustafayev, Political Specialist at the Embassy, as well as IEPF President Umud Mirzayev and IEPF President's Adviser, expert on International Conflicts Emil Hasanov attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the IEPF President spoke about the establishment of the organisation, its projects in the field of media and civil society, peacekeeping and conflict studies, refugees and IDPs, community development and education. He also spoke about ANAMA's mine action program, which the IEPF has joined and partnered with since 2000.
Furthermore, Mirzayev spoke about the direct cooperation with the US State Department and the projects implemented by the IEPF with their support. Prospects for cooperation between the parties were discussed during the event.
Speaking about his activities in Azerbaijan over the past three years, Jaidev Singh said he was visiting the IEPF for the first time and that he looks forward to more opportunities for cooperation. He noted that he appreciated the briefing and the critical role the IEPF Chair will play in the Public Council on ANAMA.
During the open and frank meeting, IEPF President Umud Mirzayev acquainted the guests with the IEPF office, as well as the editorial board of the IEPF's analytical news portal Eurasia Diary and the credit fund to support vulnerable populations.
