In recent days, the enemy has repeatedly violated the ceasefire on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and in the Karabakh region, where Russian peacekeepers are stationed. According to the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, over the past week, the Armenian side has violated the ceasefire three times in different directions.
On July 6, illegal Armenian armed groups in the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, fired on the units of the Azerbaijani Army in the direction of Aliagali village of Aghdam region. As a result, our serviceman Dadashov Sakit Ahliman oglu, who was involved in road improvement, was injured. On July 7, at about 13:40, the Armenian armed forces fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in the direction of Garalar village of Tovuz region from positions near the village of Kolagir in the Berd region. On July 9, at about 21:05, the Armenian armed forces fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in the direction of Zamanli village of Gadabay region from positions in the Chambarak region.
The recent intensive ceasefire violation in the territories of Azerbaijan under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers and on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border has caused strong protests in the Azerbaijani public. President of the International Eurasia Press Fund, Deputy Chairman of the Press Council Umud Mirzayev has made a statement to Eurasia Diary on the issue.
"Violation of the ceasefire on the border and in our territories temporarily controlled by Russian peacekeepers is the latest blow to Armenia. Just as a viper wagging its tail after crushing its head, Armenians also make provocations after an "iron fist" hits their heads. Interestingly, the Armenians are also aware that these provocations are useless. Therefore, it seems to me that there are other motives behind this type of provocation. For example, if we pay attention, we can see that the areas where the ceasefire was violated and sabotage attacks were carried out are either temporarily under Russian control or wanted by the Russians. "Every ceasefire violation, every provocation is aimed at showing how much Russia needs to be in the region," Mirzayev said.
Despite all these provocations, Mirzayev noted that peace and security will be formed in the region as a result of Azerbaijan's armed forces and successful diplomacy.
"Both Armenia and Russia are aware that Azerbaijan is not as weak as it used to be in the 1990s. Azerbaijan has enough diplomatic leverage to gain the political support of major powers such as Turkey, Pakistan, Israel, Italy and Britain, an armed force that destroyed the army that the Armenians could not fit in for 44 days. Today, Armenia is a country whose armed forces have collapsed, its economy has collapsed, and its security has been entrusted to another state. From this point of view, Armenia will no longer be able to resist. "Azerbaijan will soon ensure peace in the region, and this peace will be eternal and lasting."
