Umud Mirzayev: "I am satisfied that IEPF contributed to the event on Islamophobia"
"Islamophobia is a human problem. It is one of the most extreme forms of racial discrimination."
Umud Mirzayev, the President of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF), told Ednews while expressing his opinion on "Islamophobia as a specific form of racism and discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges" dedicated to the International Day of Combat Islamophobia held in Baku.
"To hold such an international conference in Azerbaijan is quite relevant and important. I think that it is important and fruitful for Azerbaijan to host such events. The conference is important both in terms of our country's emphasis on multicultural values and its position in the region. Very important and interesting topics are discussed at this conference. There are representatives, experts and researchers of international centers and universities participating from different parts of the world."
U. Mirzayevin said that the conference continues for the second day. According to him, cases of people's religious views, choices, and pressure against them are an unacceptable problem. And this problem is universal.
"In that direction, activities are carried out in different parts of the world. There are different networks. Despite the fact that it is on people's agenda, it is taking an unpleasant form. BAMF has shown itself support in holding this event. I am very satisfied that we contributed to the holding of the conference to a certain extent as a civil institution."
Noted that on March 15-16, the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC), the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) and the G20 Interfaith Forum organized an international conference dedicated to the International Day to Combat Islamophobia themed “Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges” in Baku. It is the second day of the international conference.
