Chelsea have agreed a £40 million deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal following his loan spell last season, according to The Independent.
Kovacic, who appeared 21 times in the league for Chelsea whilst on loan , will join his former team-mates at Stamford Bridge despite the club currently being in the middle of a two window transfer ban.
The Blues can in fact recruit the 25-year-old due to the terms of the original loan deal, which states there was an option to sign Kovacic on a permanent basis once his loan had expired.
