Eden Hazard says is he well aware he has not yet lived up to expectation so far at Real Madrid since his summer switch from Chelsea, Evening Standart reports.
The 28-year-old attacker was criticised in the summer for showing up to pre-season training in poor shape and then missed the start of the campaign with a thigh injury.
He returned to action as a substitute in the 3-2 win over Levante after the international break, but has looked nowhere his brilliant best so far and was particularly disappointing as Madrid lost 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in their first Champions League game on September 18.
Ahead of Los Blancos' second fixture in the competition, at home to Club Brugge on Tuesday night, the €130 million attacker was selected to speak to the media and he admitted he has much more to give if he is to live up to his transfer fee and billing at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“I’m not a Galactico yet," he said. "I have to show that I can be one. We all know the history of the number 7 [shirt] at this club and I want to show that I can be the best in the world."
"I want to give my all, not just in matches but in training too.”
Hazard has started three games since his return from injury and contributed defensively in the 1-0 win at Sevilla and again in the Madrid derby, which ended goalless on Saturday. But he has made little impact as an attacker in his appearances to date.
“I can do better," he said. "I’m critical of myself as well, but working every day we will change things.
"Not everything is perfect but we’re first in La Liga, we lost in Paris, maybe I was set back because of the injury but now I’m at 100% and hope to give my all in the coming games.
