The Athletic journalist has shared in David Ornstein’s latest column that the heel problem will likely leave him absent against Sevilla and Aston Villa.
The Irons confirmed that no serious damage has been picked up after he was forced off against Liverpool, but it will keep him out this week.

Writing in his latest Monday column for The Athletic this morning, Ornstein shared the news that we all were hoping wouldn’t happen.
“Although the club yesterday confirmed that he had suffered no significant damage, it’s believed this week’s Europa League trip to Sevilla and the weekend’s home game against Aston Villa are likely to come too soon,” he wrote.
“The timing is also unfortunate with regards to a potential England call-up, with Gareth Southgate set to name his squad soon ahead of games against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.”
Blow.
This is the news we didn’t want.
Sevilla on Thursday is a huge tie in Spain, and you need your biggest players available for trips such as that one.
Bowen is going to be out for that and Aston Villa, and with Gareth Southgate set to name his international squad for England soon, this is a huge personal blow too.
Hopefully, with no significant damage confirmed, Bowen can take a little rest for the next week and return firing on all cylinders after.
David Moyes will also be gutted, with his main attacking threat, who is usually so reliable and avoid injuries now missing.
This is another potential downfall for the Irons after failing to sign anyone in January, with a winger clearly on the list alongside another striker.
It is time for someone to step up once again, though, and we are hoping it will be Nikola Vlasic who finally comes to the part and proves himself consistently on the big stage – he has done it before.
