West Ham United have reportedly made an offer to re-sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer this summer.
The Manchester United midfielder’s contract is set to run out this summer after failing to secure regular minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick this season which could lead to Lingard heading on for pastures new. And the Hammers, along with Newcastle United have been linked with the former England international.
Lingard had a successful loan spell at the London Stadium in the second half of the 2020/21 season but opted to stay at United for the 21/22 season. However, a return to the capital could be on the cards for the attacking midfielder this summer.
The Daily Mail are reporting that West Ham have made an offer to sign Lingard permanently on a free transfer as they look to land the midfielder ahead of expected growing interest from other clubs.
Lingard may yet have a future at Old Trafford after reports emerged recently that new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag was keen to hold talks with the midfielder over potentially extending his stay in Manchester. while ambitious Newcastle could yet make a move.
It is also suggested that West Ham are also keen on Hull City forward Keane Lewis-Potter and Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd in this summer’s transfer window.
Lewis-Potter, who has also been linked with Brentford in recent months, scored 12 goals and added three assists during his 46 Championship appearances in 2021/22. Of players in the Championship aged 21 and under, only Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson scored more goals last term.
