Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he gave Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny some last-minute advice before he saved Gonzalo Higuain’s penalty, reported Metro.
The Argentine, who played alongside Ronaldo at Real Madrid, missed his chance to level the scores from the penalty spot – and later in the game had to be dragged off the pitch by his teammates after being shown a red card.
Szczesny also knows all about Higuain from their time together at Juve, though Ronaldo was still keen to remind him to dive early.
‘We know each other well. I know that Higuain tends to take his penalties hard and low, so I was fortunate that it went well,’ Szczesny told Sky Sport Italia.
‘Ronaldo told me to go early, because Pipita tends to take powerful penalties, but then I already knew that!’
