Aid agency Oxfam says up to 14 million people are in imminent danger of famine in war-torn Yemen and also 195 thousand people are suspected to have cholera.
The organisation also says it's struggling to help up to 40 thousand people with cholera.
The agency says checkpoints and permit requirements imposed by warring parties are making it almost impossible to reach affected areas.
Later, Jim Clarken, from Oxfam, will update the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs about problems facing the organisation in Yemen.
He says up to 195 thousand people have contracted cholera already this year and the numbers continue to rise.
“Some 195,000 people are suspected to have contracted the disease so far this year, of whom more than 38,000 are in districts that are hard for aid agencies to reach,” Oxfam, a U.K.-based umbrella of charity organizations, said in a Thursday statement, Anadolu Agency reported.
“More than 3,000 people have died since the outbreak began in 2016,” it added.
