Eurasia Dairy reported that a fire broke out on a passenger plane flying from Moscow to Murmansk yesterday. According to the latest news, only 37 of the 72 people survived on the plane.
According to Ria Novosti news agency, the cause of the crash was a technical problem with the aircraft's electrical base. Eurasia Diary has discovered that the Superjet-100, owned by Aeroflot was not successful production. This is not the first Superjet-100 accident.
The airplane's lack of compliance with international standards was evident during the demonstration flight in May 2012. Thus, the plane disappeared during the demonstration flight in Indonesia. As a result of the investigation the plane had been found crashed into the Valak Mountains and 44 passengers died.
This aircraft was manufactured jointly by Sukhoi and Italian Finmeccanica producing Russian war-planes.
On May 19, 2008 the first flight of Superjet-100 was carried out. After the Superjet-100 has been produced, it has attracted the attention of many countries and increased interest in the plane. This was due to the fact that the airplane was 25% cheaper than its alternatives. However, shortcomings and technical problems observed in the airplanes resulted in many states refusing the order of this aircraft.
Since the day it was manufactured, Superjet-100 planes included states such as Iran, Sweden, Italy, Armenia and Hungary into their fleet. However, low air quality standards and frequent accidents have led many countries to refuse to buy the aircraft. It should be noted that one of the states that ordered most aircraft was Iran. In 2017, Iran announced to order 100 Superjet 100. But after the recent crash, Iran is also expected to refuse the purchase of these planes.
Mexico has also ordered about 30 Superjets. According to this order, 22 aircraft were delivered to Mexico at the beginning of this year. However, most of the aircraft's engine has detected a problem, and none of these aircraft is currently being used. Consequently, Mexico announced that it would reject its next order in March. According to BBC, currently, 30% of Superjet-100 aircraft are not active on flights.
