Julian Assange was filed for 17 charges for by US Justice Department, BBC reported.
According to The Guardian, the charges are filed for spreading secret informalion on the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. He could stay 175 years in prison US if convicted of all the charges against him.
“While it appears capital punishment does not apply in this case, the US, by seeking extradition for offences that might attract a 175 years imprisonment, could be testing the tolerance of its allies and partners,” the former Australian foreign minister Bob Carr said. “I think this changes the game almost as much as if capital punishment were the penalty.”
He was previously charged for helping ex-intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to penetrate to the Pentagon network. Julian Assange faced bail on sexual allegations in Sweeden and he obtained asylum in Ecuadorian embassy in London 2012.
47 years old journalist was arrested on 11 April after Ecuador withdrawal of asylum and he was sentenced to 50 weeks in jail.
