Iranian MP Ezatollah Yousefian-Mullah and a number of MPs prepared a proposal to the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for a review of constitution. There is a need of 200 signatures for acceptance of presenting the letter to the Supreme leader.
“If the number of signatures on this letter exceeds 200, we will send it to the Supreme Leader,” said Yousefian-Mullah, to ILNA news agency, Alarabiya reported. He also said that the letter has 150 signatures already.
According to the Constitution of Iran Islamic Republic, only Supreme Leader can order a revision of constitution
Yousefian-Mullah, the member of an independent conservative faction in parliament informed about the request. He suggested the increased presidential power. Mullah thought that many of the former president hasn't satisfied their authority but they never claimed it openly.
Apart from this establishment of "Great Assembly" like Senate was noted in the letter. He also suggested restoring the position of Prime Minister in the administration.
If the request will be accepted and implemented it will be the second in the history of Iran Islamic Republic which the first happened in 1989.
