The deputy mayor of the Kashkadarya’s Shakhrisabz district and an employee of the mayor’s office were caught taking US$ 100 in a bribe from a businessman on Tuesday, the Prosecutor General’s Office said, Eurasia Diary reports citing Tashkent Times.
The employee was supposed to transfer this amount to the deputy mayor, who in return was supposed to allocate a land plot for building a greenhouse.
The deputy mayor in charge of agriculture and water resources region was reportedly caught red-handedly when taking the bribe.
The detainees are now facing Takin Bribe and Mediation in Bribery charges of of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
