China to help Pakistan for protecting crops from swarm by deploying ducks troops, Time reports.
Lu Lizhi, a senior researcher with the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences announced that China will send 100,000 ducks for combating locust which damages crops in Pakistan.
“One duck is able to eat more than 200 locusts a day,” Lu said.
Pakistan suffered from heavy rain and plague pest, additionally, the swarm of locust undermines food security. The cost of fighting locust reached in the continent’s east has doubled to $128 million UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization said.
