Unknown armed men raid Yandex, Uber offices in Minsk

Unknown armed men have blocked the Minsk offices of Russian multinational corporation Yandex and Uber taxi aggregator, Yandex press service told TASS on Thursday.

Earlier, a source close to the company said unknown men dressed in black and carrying weapons had raided the Yandex offices in the Belarusian capital. "The offices are blocked, including several staff, who are inside," the source told TASS.

The press service of Yandex confirmed this statement. "We are clarifying the details."

Earlier reports in Telegram channels said besides the Minsk office of Yandex unknown people dressed in dark clothes and masks came to the Uber office (this brand belongs to a joint venture of Yandex.Taxi and Uber).

Since late on August 9, Minsk and several other cities have been hit by mass protests, which spiraled into clashes with police. Since Sunday, people have been taking to streets for demonstrations. According to the Interior Ministry, nearly 6,000 people were detained and dozens of police and protesters were injured.
