Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who announced his resignation, is outside the country, said Andranik Tevanyan, an MP from the ‘Armenia’ opposition faction, Interfax reports.

"It's a shame that a person who holds the post of president of the republic announced his resignation from abroad," Tevanyan wrote on his Facebook page.

Armenian President Armen Sarkissian announced his resignation on January 23. He noted that "the president does not have the necessary tools to influence the fundamental processes of domestic and foreign policy in the current difficult period for the country and the nation."
