The U.S. administration asked Congress to approve the sale of new F-16 fighters to Turkiye, said Patrick Ryder, Pentagon Press Secretary in a briefing, APA reports.

"I would refuse to talk about the current state of the work of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency while acknowledging that it is being considered by Congress," he said.

According to him, the U.S. considers Turkiye an important partner and ally.

"We will continue to work with Turkish leaders on how to strengthen these ties, how to ensure mutual protection," Patrick Ryder said.
