Ednews reports that Turgay Abbasli, chief adviser of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, said this in a statement to "Anadolu" agency.
The agency noted that the aid group of Azerbaijan continues to help the victims of the earthquake in Kahramanmaras, Turkiye.
On February 6, rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan arrived in Turkiye and started work in Kahramanmaras, the epicenter of the earthquake.
Later, 114 members of the team went to Hatay, and the group, including doctors and engineers, participated in the search and rescue work in Kahramanmaras and Hatay and saved 53 people from the rubble.
3 cars prepared for search and rescue, 8 specially trained search and rescue dogs with heat-sensitive search and rescue devices and thermal cameras were used in the work carried out in three shifts on a non-stop basis.
The Azerbaijani team also created 2 field hospitals in Kahramanmarash. 41 doctors and health workers worked in hospitals under the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Psychologists in the Azerbaijani delegation supported earthquake victims on the ground. Health services and psychosocial support were provided to approximately 2,500 people affected by the earthquake in hospitals, including the surgical service and the laboratory. Pediatricians treated earthquake victims.
The delegation from Azerbaijan created tent cities in 10 places in Kahramanmarash and its districts.
The Azerbaijani team, which created a desert kitchen in Kahramanmaras, prepares food for 1,000 people every day and provides services to earthquake victims. The Ministry of Emergencies of Azerbaijan also sent humanitarian aid such as blankets and heaters to Turkiye with 10 planes and trucks.
After the completion of the search and rescue work, a part of the group left Turkey, but 310 people, including doctors, continue their medical assistance work in Kahramanmaras.
Turgay Abbasli, chief adviser of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Emergencies of Azerbaijan, also reminded that since February 6, search and rescue and humanitarian aid work has been carried out.
