Heidi Thomas Kuhn, the founder and CEO of Roots of Peace NGO met with Mr. Khazar Ibrahim, ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States of America in Washington, D.C.
She gave information on it to the Ednews:
"Honored to meet with Ambassador Khazar Ibrahim at the Embassy of Azerbaijan, Washington, D.C. Azerbaijan a country located at the boundary of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. It is a part of the South Caucasus region and is bounded by the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia and Turkey to the west, and Iran to the south."
"Last year, I personally visited Karabakh, a city once known for growing the best grapes in the region—amidst the beauty of lush vineyards and virgin forests in the mountain villages. Now, this once fertile agricultural land is riddled with landmines and unexploded ordnance preventing the cultivation of grapevines and other food crops to feed the local population", she noted.
H.T.Kuhn stressed that Roots of Peace is a humanitarian, non-political, interfaith organization which works worldwide to heal the wounds of war and plant sustainable peace through agriculture:
"We serve no flag, only the farmer in the field. As a witness to the travesty of war across multiple continents, it is time for humanity to turn ‘swords into plowshares’ by turning ‘mines to vines’ worldwide."
