North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) revealed overnight that six Russian aircraft were intercepted "in" or "near" the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on May 11, EDnews informs via Fox News.
"Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace," NORAD said, noting that these aircraft were seen concurrently with "large-scale" US military training operations taking place in Alaska.
"The Russian activity in the North American ADIZ occurs regulary and is not seen as a threat," the statement read.
