Several explosions were heard at the Dow Chemical Co. facility in Plaquemine, Louisiana, according to local media. A shelter-in-place order was issued for half a mile around the plant after a fire broke out. There are currently no known casualties and Dow Chemical officials said all workers are accounted for.
Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi said there were six explosions, with witnesses telling the WBRZ television station that the "shockwave was felt from miles away, including in parts of Baton Rouge." The cause of the incident is currently unknown.
