Indonesia will receive at least 100 million dollars – almost NOK 1.1 billion – from Norway for its efforts to save the rainforest, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said as he met Indonesian President Joko Widodo during the climate summit in Dubai, Ednews informs via foreign media.
"Indonesia’s success in reducing deforestation is the result of clear policies and effective climate measures. The country has reduced deforestation by 90 per cent in recent years," said Jonas Gahr Støre.
NOK 1 billion is the largest single amount that Norway has paid out in connection with investment in the rainforest.
