The Swedish government announced on Tuesday that Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will meet with his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban in Budapest on February 23 to discuss the Scandinavian country's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
"The topics of the meeting will be defense and security policy cooperation between Hungary and Sweden, preparations for Hungary's upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and the EU's Strategic Agenda," the government's written statement read.
Hungary, the only member of the alliance yet to ratify Sweden's accession, failed to vote on the matter earlier this month as Orban's party, Fidesz, boycotted it and demanded Kristerssen visit Budapest to discuss the topic in person. Meanwhile, it was reported such a vote will be held on February 26.
