The Australian government introduced financial penalties and travel restrictions on seven Russian prison officers allegedly involved in the mistreatment of Kremlin’s critic Alexey Navalny.
Deputy Prime Minister said that his country "holds President [Vladimir] Putin and the Russian Government responsible for Mr. Navalny's treatment and death in custody."
After the opposition politician's death, governments from the United Kingdom and the United States also introduced sanctions drawing attention to the Kremlin, which they accuse of being responsible for it.
