James O'Brien, assistant of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the US State Department, said that the US and Armenia are discussing the possibilities of cooperation in the field of civil nuclear energy.
According to Ednews , he noted that the EU is already working with Armenia to improve the safety and efficiency of existing nuclear energy sources, and this cooperation is expanding.
According to him, while Armenia is considering options for replacing the existing ANPP (Metsamor) with a new one, the US intends to finance the techno-economic sector, join scientific exchanges to identify new opportunities, and explore diversification financing options.
