Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze instructed the country’s Economy Ministry to provide additional flights and fixed reduced ticket prices for fans of the country's national team who will take part in the European Football Championship in Germany, Ednews informs via Georgian media.
“I would like to ask the Ministry of Economy to start working to provide additional direct flights to Dusseldorf and Hamburg. It is important that our fellow citizens are offered tickets at a fixed low fare,” Kobakhidze said.
According to the prime minister, airlines took advantage of the increase in demand, and ticket prices immediately after the Georgian national team entered the championship increased several times.
From April 1, specially for fans who want to attend the matches of the Georgian national team, Georgian Airways began selling tickets for special direct flights to German cities. Ticket prices were several times higher than usual for this time of year.
The Georgian national team will play at the European Football Championship for the first time in history thanks to its victory in the final of the Euro Qualification League of Nations playoffs over the Greek team.
