China's Chang'e-6 lunar mission returned to Earth on Tuesday after spending almost eight weeks in space, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced. The probe brought back the first-ever samples from the far side of the Moon, Ednews reports.
The probe landed on the Moon on June 2 and collected samples of rock and dust from the South Pole-Aitken basin before starting its return journey two days later. It stayed in the lunar orbit for 13 days while waiting for favorable conditions for reentry. The CNSA called the mission a "complete success."
