Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi (pictured) and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, William Burns met on Tuesday about efforts to secure a Gaza ceasefire.
In a presidential statement, Egypt noted that El-Sisi stressed "the importance for the international community to assume its responsibility to end the war, ensure unfettered access for humanitarian aid and relief into Gaza in adequate and sufficient quantities to mitigate the catastrophic humanitarian situation endured by the Palestinians in the sector." Moreover, the president urged to prevent the armed conflict expands and deepening in other countries.
The meeting happened amid a report that an Egyptian security delegation will travel to Doha on Wednesday "on a mission to bring viewpoints closer between Hamas and Israel in order to reach a truce agreement as soon as possible," Egypt’s state-affiliated Al-Qahera News said.
