Georgia has appointed a new Consul General to Ganja, the second-largest city of Azerbaijan, Ednews informs.

The Head of Ganja City Executive Power, Niyazi Bayramov, held a courtesy meeting with Georgia's newly appointed Consul General, Kakhaber Abdaladze.

Prior to the meeting, both officials paid their respects at the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, laying floral tributes.

Bayramov congratulated the consul and wished him success in his future endeavours.

During their conversation, Bayramov provided an insightful overview of Ganja's rich history and its current economic landscape. He highlighted the city's industrial potential, mentioning key enterprises such as Ganja Automobile Plant Production Association, AzerAluminium OJSC, Ganja Sharab-2.

Bayramov also noted the recent launch of the first industrial explosives production plant, operated by AzerBlast LLC, a subsidiary of AzerGold CJSC.

The meeting also touched upon the cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Georgia. Bayramov mentioned the installation of a memorial plaque on the facade of the building, where renowned Georgian writer Nikoloz Baratashvili once worked.

Consul General Abdaladze expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the historically friendly relations between the Azerbaijani and Georgian peoples. He noted that cooperation between the regions of both countries has played a significant role in developing these relations.

The meeting concluded with a discussion on potential steps to further expand these ties, followed by an exchange of commemorative gifts.
