After the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Türkiye gained various advantages over the Black Sea. Official Ankara, which is trying to normalize relations between the two countries, has become a trade intermediary of the Black Sea.
What will be Türkiye's strategy between the two countries?
Speaking to Ednews on the subject, Turkish political scientist Ismayil Cingoz said that Turkey pursues a non-partisan policy to protect peace and trade in the region.
"Turkey has shown neutrality in the Russian-Ukrainian war and is continuing to do so until now. Although, Turkey is a NATO country, it did not act together with NATO countries and continued its policy. Some Western countries have even condemned Türkiye for its position. Turkey has gained international prestige because it acts as a third party between Ukraine and Russia. In addition, with the Grain Corridor project, the Turkish side acted as a productive collaborator. Ankara has proved that it is in an important position in this geography by sitting both countries at the same table in terms of providing grain products”.
The expert noted that Türkiye turned out to be a key country for the continuation of peace and economic relations in the Black Sea. Therefore, Russia began to export its gas through Turkey. This can be evaluated as a result of Turkey's non-partisan policy:
"The development of relations with Russia, does not mean that Türkiye's relations with Ukraine are broken. Türkiye's current policy is to continue trade on the Black Sea and maintain stability in the region. Therefore, Ankara will act as a mediator between these two countries in the future.
In this regard, Türkiye protects the economic interests of many countries at the international level. Even after the war, Turkey will continue to play important role between Russia and Ukraine."
