The way things are going at the home of the European champions signals that there is not going to be a positive ending to the 2018/19 season unless drastic measures are taken to improve.

Real Madrid are on their worst La Liga Santander start in the last decade and have lost as many as five matches out of their opening 13 so far in the season, drawing twice and winning only six times.

As a result of a horrible start which saw Real Madrid’s campaign get underway with a defeat in the UEFA Super Cup to crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid, Julen Lopetegui was fired by the Whites and Santiago Solari was installed as his successor.

The new manager excelled in his interim tenure with four wins in four matches and was rewarded with the permanent job. However, on his first outing as the first team boss, Santiago Solari’s Real Madrid side suffered a 3-0 defeat.

Results and the manager were just a small yet significant percentage of Real Madrid’s problems, which are also down to several other decisions taken by the board of directors, and in particular- Florentino Perez.

The most important player to leave the club was Cristiano Ronaldo, the club’s all-time top goal scorer and a potential guarantor of 50 goals per season. The Whites did not make an effort to sign a replacement for him and relied on players who are proving to be inconsistent now.

What’s worse is that in spite of players being linked to the club and wanting to come to Spain, the Whites made absolutely no effort to sign anyone but ended up bringing in Thibaut Courtois who has been a pure waste of money.
