Iran's Foreign Minister said about the Zangezur Corridor that they will not allow the historical route connecting Iran with Armenia to be restricted or closed in the region.
Iran started to play double standarts again. Sometimes he tries to normalize the processes with Azerbaijan, and sometimes he makes provocative statements again.
In his statement to Ednews, the Chairman of the White Party, Tural Abbasli, stated that Iran's exposure to the coalition was the reason for Iran's double standards:
"Iran currently does not want to confront Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, the United States or Israel. He knows that no country will fight alone with Iran and will be subjected to a coalition. He has enough dissatisfaction within himself. Therefore, he understands that a possible war could bring about the end of the regime. At the same time, Iran noted that the existence of Armenia is a red line for them. They know very well that if Azerbaijan returns Zangezur and the border with Armenia is closed in this way, Iran's maneuverability will be limited. In this respect, this is a red line and they are fighting to the end. But I think that Azerbaijan and its allies should be as stubborn as Iran. Until yesterday, the country that bordered the USSR is now coming and enjoying history. Before the USSR, all those territories were part of the APC. Iran is trying to protect its interests in the region until the end. In particular, there are ideological interests here. Of course, considering that Turkey is a Sunni state, it does not want it to operate in a region under its sphere of interest. We must know without a doubt that Iran is currently the biggest opponent of the Zangezur Corridor, and we must act in this direction."
MP Fazil Mustafa also shared his views on the issue with Ednews. He noted that such statements of Iran are actually expected.
"Because the two-faced and unprincipled nature of this state is clear. This statement is a very shallow statement. If any country in the region wants to pave the way for some state , Iran cannot interfere with it. No one limits anything. There is no point in making excuses. Azerbaijan should and will achieve its goal in a way that is not true to Iran's will. We also do not want a road through the territory of Iran. This will be resolved between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Iran has nothing to do with it. Therefore, these opinions expressed are very absurd. We always emphasize Iran's insincere position. Iran seems to be the third Armenian state in the region after France. In particular, it is naive to expect the steps taken by Iran together with France to be in accordance with the interests of Azerbaijan. We must continue our course and open this road."
