The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has released updated information regarding Azerbaijani citizens killed and injured in drone attacks on the cargo vessels Natra and Zircon in the Sea of Azov.
EDnews reports, according to the ministry, among the 25 Azerbaijani citizens involved, four people were injured and four were reported dead. It was also established that one individual who had originally been listed among the deceased was not an Azerbaijani citizen and had no Azerbaijani origin, but was in fact a Russian citizen.
The ministry stated that the bodies of Rajab Akhadov (born in 1976) and Muhammad Aliyev (born in 1997) have been recovered, and arrangements are being made to transport their remains to Azerbaijan.
The statement added that the vessel Zircon, where two other Azerbaijani citizens reported dead were located, remains at the site of the attack due to the risk of explosion. Russian rescue teams are carrying out safety measures to bring the ship to port.
"Accurate information regarding the fate of the two citizens can only be provided after the completion of search operations," the ministry noted.
Regarding the injured crew members, Samid Ibadzada (born 1998) and Rashad Madatkhanov, who were receiving treatment at a hospital in the Russian city of Yeysk, have already been discharged.
The condition of Emin Valehov (born in 2002) and Namig Jafarli (born in 1999) is reported to be good, and they are expected to leave the hospital after completing their treatment.
The Foreign Ministry also stated that officials from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia are on-site and are providing the necessary assistance to Azerbaijani citizens.
All Azerbaijani nationals have been accommodated in a hotel in Yeysk and remain in contact with their families. Citizens wishing to return home who lost their documents have been provided with temporary travel certificates.
Earlier reports had indicated that five Azerbaijani citizens were killed and three injured in the drone attack on the two foreign cargo vessels. The Foreign Ministry's updated information revises those figures and clarifies the identities of those affected.
