Author: H.E. Genci Muçaj, Former Albanian Ambassador to the Republic of Türkiye
Erzincan, Türkiye – June 11, 2025 — It was with deep humility and heartfelt gratitude that I accepted the Honoris Causa degree bestowed upon me by Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University—an institution that embodies Türkiye’s academic excellence and honors the legacy of one of its most dedicated statesmen, H.E. Binali Yıldırım.
This distinction was more than a personal recognition; it symbolized the enduring and ever-deepening friendship between the Albanian and Turkish peoples—a bond rooted in shared values, historical ties, and mutual aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous future.
As a former ambassador of Albania to Türkiye, I have had the unique privilege of witnessing Türkiye’s transformative role in the Turkic world. In a time of shifting alliances and global complexity, Türkiye has emerged not only as a geopolitical actor but as a visionary leader across the Turkic sphere—uniting nations under the banners of shared language, culture, and strategic cooperation.
A Bridge Between Nations and Civilizations
Türkiye today stands as more than a nation-state. It is a bridge—between continents, between East and West, and between the rich heritage of the Turkic peoples and their modern-day aspirations. Through the Organization of Turkic States and other multilateral platforms, Türkiye has fostered a renaissance of unity and mutual understanding, stretching from Anatolia to Central Asia.
This leadership is not confined to diplomatic rhetoric. It manifests through tangible actions: infrastructure initiatives, educational exchanges, humanitarian support, economic integration, and a consistent advocacy for human dignity and good governance. It is leadership rooted in values and guided by a clear vision.
The Visionary Role of President Erdoğan
Under the visionary guidance of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye has expanded its strategic depth and reinforced its historical and cultural bonds with nations such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and especially Azerbaijan. His leadership has redefined regional diplomacy by placing identity, independence, and interconnectivity at the center of Türkiye’s foreign policy doctrine.
President Erdoğan stands not only as a statesman but as a symbol of continuity and confidence for millions across the Turkic world.
Honoring H.E. Binali Yıldırım
I would be remiss not to highlight the exceptional legacy of H.E. Binali Yıldırım—a brother, a friend, and a statesman whose wisdom and humility continue to inspire. As Chairman of the Organization of Turkic States, his tireless efforts in fostering dialogue, connectivity, and cooperation reflect a rare blend of leadership and humanity.
The university that bears his name—Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University—is a living tribute to his commitment to shared progress, respect, and mutual growth across the Turkic nations.
Türkiye’s Mission: Unity, Prosperity, and Peace
Today, as the world contends with fragmentation and polarization, Türkiye has chosen unity. Where others sow cynicism, Türkiye offers purpose. Where uncertainty prevails, Türkiye provides direction—rooted in a diplomacy that respects the past while boldly shaping the future.
The Turkic world has never been more connected, more ambitious, or more ready to chart a shared course toward economic development, regional security, and cultural renaissance. Türkiye plays a pivotal role in this moment—one that combines moral clarity with strategic foresight.
A View from Albania
From my perspective as an Albanian and a European, Türkiye has always stood as a loyal partner—a friend in times of celebration and challenge alike. Albania and Türkiye share not only strong diplomatic relations but also a profound people-to-people connection that continues to thrive through education, investment, and solidarity.
A Call for Continuity and Cooperation
Let us, as diplomats, academics, and citizens, continue to champion Türkiye’s integrative role in the Turkic world. Let us support its message of peace, inclusivity, and prosperity—not only in our region but throughout the international community.
In closing, I extend my deepest appreciation to Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University for this great honor. May the spirit of unity and mutual respect that we celebrate today guide our path from Erzincan to Tashkent, from Ankara to Tirana, and far beyond.
