The Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday that the military hit a "terrorist cell" that tried to "launch anti-tank missiles from Lebanon toward Israeli territory in the Avivim area." Earlier in the day, the IDF reported that it struck areas in Lebanon from which "several launches" had been carried out toward the Har Dov area.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon revealed that two mortar shells hit their base near the village of Houla on Saturday night local time and resulted in "minor injuries" to one peacekeeper, who is now in stable condition. UNIFIL noted that, also yesterday, a shell hit its headquarters in Naqoura.
"UNIFIL expresses serious concern over these two attacks on our troops who are tirelessly working 24/7 to restore stability in southern Lebanon and de-escalate this perilous situation. We strongly urge all parties involved in the conflict to immediately cease fire. Attacking UN peacekeepers is a crime, a violation of international law and must be condemned. Investigations have been launched into both incidents," UNIFIL underscored.
