Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced during a press conference on Tuesday that his country's military has asked for an additional 450-500,000 people to be mobilized into the army.
"I said that I need more arguments to make this decision," Zelensky said, adding that the mobilization in such a format would cost an extra 500 billion hryvnias ($13.4 billion).
He noted that Russia had not achieved "a single goal" this year. Commenting on Western arms deliveries, he said that Ukraine's skies would be guarded by several new Patriot systems this winter and voiced hope that "the US will not betray us".
