The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Wednesday that an Israeli Air Force (IAF) aircraft "eliminated" Hezbollah Nasr Unit commander Sami Taleb Abdullah.
According to the statement published on X, the operation was carried out Tuesday night as part of an attack on the group's command and control center near Jouaiyya in southern Lebanon. The news finally confirms an earlier report of the assassination of Hezbollah's commander, which was followed by another early morning attack with 90 rockets on Israeli facilities as a retaliatory measure.
"Abdullah was one of Hezbollah's most senior commanders in southern Lebanon who planned, advanced, and carried out a large number of terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. Three additional Hezbollah terrorist operatives were also eliminated in the strike," the IDF added.
