Iran stated on Friday that Hezbollah can defend itself and Lebanon against Israel following the warning of United States President Joe Biden's Senior Advisor for Energy and Investment Amos Hochstein, the Permanent Mission of Iran to the UN posted on X.
"The Lebanese Resistance Movement, Hezbollah, has the capability to defend itself and Lebanon — perhaps the time for the self-annihilation of this illegitimate regime has come," the mission wrote. "Any imprudent decision by the occupying Israeli regime to save itself could plunge the region into a new war."
Tensions between the nations have escalated in recent times, with near-daily exchanges of fire along their shared border. In an effort to prevent a full-scale war between the involved parties, Hochstein visited both Israel and Lebanon.
