During coronavirus pandemic, the number of unemployed people in Uzbekistan grew for 600,000 people and reached 2 million, Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Nozim Husanov said in the interview to local media, EDNews.net reports citing AKIpress.
"At the beginning of this year the number of unemployed people made around 1.4 million. After some companies were closed due to the pandemic, the number of unemployed people reached 2 million. Besides, we have around 500,000 citizens who can't travel abroad for work," the Minister added.
Before the pandemic, the unemployment rate in Uzbekistan made 9.3%. According to the latest information, this rate grew to 14%-15%.
