During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation was received by the Transitional President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed al-Shaara.President Ahmed al-Shaara recalled with satisfaction his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev within the framework of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum in April of this year and expressed gratitude to the head of state of Azerbaijan for organizing this mission at a short notice.

He noted that Syria and Azerbaijan have gone through similar processes and, just as Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity, Syria has also entered a period of reconstruction after the conflict. It was particularly emphasized that Azerbaijan's experience in the restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories could be useful for Syria. He also expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid sent to the Syrian people in January of this year.

Sharifov presented the Syrian President with a letter of invitation from President Ilham Aliyev to his Syrian counterpart to visit Azerbaijan.The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the political support of the Azerbaijani government to the new Syrian administration, emphasizing that the sending of an official Azerbaijani delegation to Damascus in December last year, as well as the resumption of the activities of our country's embassy in Damascus after 12 years.
During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on possible areas of support for the Republic of Azerbaijan in the recovery and reconstruction process, which includes Syria.
Within the framework of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation held meetings with Foreign Minister Asad Hassan al-Shibani, Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal Al-Shaar, Minister of Energy Mohammed al-Bashir, Minister of Culture Mohammed Yasin Saleh and Minister of Education Mohammed Absurrah Rahman Turkuo.The meetings discussed issues of deepening bilateral cooperation, and specific plans were identified in the relevant areas.
